The weather in Utah is beginning to cool down, days are getting shorter, the trees are changing colors... it is FINALLY October!!! And what does October mean? It means Pumpkin Spice Lattes, Pumpkin Carving, Trick-or-Treating and the biggest of them all... Haunted Houses (cue the witch cackle)!

We have 5 of the TOP Haunted Attractions in Salt Lake and the surrounding areas that we think you NEED to go to this month!

And for our friends that want a little less spook and more family friendly activities, we have you covered as well!

1. Nightmare on 13th

Location: 300 W 1300 S, Salt Lake City, Utah

Times of Operation: 7:30pm-10pm Mon-Thurs & 7:30pm-12am Fri-Sat

Scary Meter:

This is the most well known Haunted House in all of Utah! They are celebrating 25 years of fear!

2. Fear Factory

Location: 666 W. and 800 S, Salt Lake City, Utah

Times of Operation: 7pm-10pm Mon-Thurs & 7pm-12am Fri-Sat

Scary Meter:

In the heart of the Salt Lakes Industrial District, this haunted house is sure to send chills down your spine. As if the actors aren't enough the eerie feeling of its dreadful past is sure to push your limits.

3. Castle of Chaos

Location: 7980 S State Street, Salt Lake City, Utah

Times of Operation: 7:30pm-10pm Sun-Thurs & 7:30pm-12am Fri-Sat

Scary Meter:

"One of America's most extreme Halloween Attractions" by USA Today Top10 in 2015! You are sure to get a fright-delight by going to see this underground haunted attraction.

4. Strangling Brothers Haunted Circus

Location: 98 E. 13800 S. Draper, Utah

Times of Operation: 7:30pm-11pm Mon-Wed & 7:30-12am Thurs-Sat

Scary Meter:

This haunted circus is like nothing you've ever been to in your life! With 32 Haunted Rings of Terror you are sure to wish there were some normal creatures at this circus! Not to mention that this haunted house is nationally ranked as one of the best in the nation!

5. The Haunted Forest

Location: 6000 W 6400 N, American Fork, Utah

Times of Operation: 7:30pm-10pm Mon-Thurs & 7:30pm-12am Fri-Sat

The Haunted Forest is just a short drive away, but well worth the drive! Go experience what this mysterious forest has to offer.. and probably a lot more!

As promised, here is our list of family friendly October activities.

1. Boo At The Zoo

Location: Hogle Zoo, 2600 Sunnyside Ave S, Salt Lake City, UT

Times of Operation: The last Saturday of October from 9am-3pm

Scary Meter:

Bring your kiddos all dressed up to go Trick-Or-Treat at Hogle Zoo! Kids 12 years and younger are allowed to Trick-Or-Treat. This family event is sure to kick in that sugar rush before nightfall! With tons of candy and things do see or do, this activity is sure to make your whole family get in the Halloween mood!

2. Cornbelly's Corn Maze & Pumpkin Fest

Location: 3003 Thanksgiving Way, Lehi, UT

Times of Operation: 4pm-9pm Mon-Thurs & 10am-11pm Fri-Sat

Scary Meter:

Cornbelly's has a wide variety of activities for everyone from spooky to playful! With a Minion Corn Maze, Haunted Corn Maze, Apple Blasters and face paining, this event is sure one that the whole family can enjoy!

3. Frightmares at Lagoon

Location: 375 Lagoon Dr, Farmington, UT

Times of Operation: 11am-11pm Fri-Sat & open week of Halloween from 5pm-10pm

Get your scare on at Frightmares! Enjoy the 7 haunted attractions with games, rides and food! Frightmares is a great destination for Halloween Family Fun!
