Chloe Bruderer

I'm a Utah girl in love with Salt Lake City and everything going on here.

FITNESS RESOLUTIONS:

The first fitness rule of thumb is to find a gym buddy! Working out is more fun with someone else, and it’s always good to have someone to hold you accountable to your goals.

The second rule of thumb is finding a gym, class, or fitness center that you love. Getting into shape doesn't mean you have to be miserable. We’ve done some research and found a few places in Salt Lake that are doing specials for the new year! Saving money is never a bad resolution either.

I've had my eye on 5 Barre Classes at Xtend Barre SLC for only $39. ($95 value) Xtend Barre has a five star rating from customers, and is guaranteed to give you a killer workout.

I've also been dying to try 20 Yoga Classes at Wasatch Wasatch Ayurveda and Yoga Upstairs. It’s in Sugar House (our neighborhood!) and it’s the best. Yoga energizes, stretches, and tones the body. You can’t beat how calm you feel after.

More of a homebody? Is your local park your gym? There’s nothing wrong with that! Use the well known app, “Motion Traxx” all year for only $49. ($99 value) It includes different workouts for all fitness levels, HIIT sessions, and the perfect playlists to keep you moving.

ORGANIZATION RESOLUTIONS:

There’s something about writing things down that makes you more productive. No really, it’s a thing. So put those smart phones down and pick those pencils up! A planner is perfect for laying your schedule out, and you don’t have to charge it every night. Here are some of our favorites:

 1, 2, 3

Feeling like organizing your room? Here’s one of our favorite organization How-To’s on YouTube:

FOOD RESOLUTIONS:

Whether your resolution is to go out to eat less, eat healthier, or just eat yummier food, your resolution probably involves food somehow.

Trying to cook at home more? Start with our essential guide to Trader Joes. We share the best of the best products, and how we like to cook them. Plus it’s all very budget friendly! (Oh, and some easy recipes because sometimes toast feels like too much work).

Harmon's at City Creek has become one of our favorite places to shop with their variety of healthy food, gourmet brands, and fresh food bars. In 2017 Harmon's is offering cooking classes, and there are some exciting options for you. Learn how to make Greek food, vegetarian cuisine, Ghirardelli Chocolate treats, pasta, and more! Get tickets, more info, and other locations classes information here. They’re filling up quickly into February, so make sure to sign up ASAP!

While you’re at it, learn how you can eat like a New Yorker in Salt Lake City. Or try a new restaurant like Aubergine & Company, Pig & Jelly Jar, or Bruges Waffles and Frites. Be a tourist in your own home!

ADVENTURE RESOLUTIONS:

A life full of adventure is a good one. But sometimes it’s hard to know where the adventure is, am I right? Buy Utah’s Pass of all Passes, because they’ve figured that out for you. When you buy a pass you get access to sporting events, Tracy Aviary, mini golf, go carts, laser tagging, water parks, movies, ice skating, and food! And you get all of this for a full year. We love it because it’s perfect for a family, teenagers, or single adults. Convince your friends!

If you want to do some exploring in your own home state, check out our favorite parts of each area in Salt Lake City. Explore Liberty Park, one of the most leisurely areas in Utah! With plenty of activities for kids, open park space, and a handful of restaurants nearby, it’s a fun area to hang out in. Or spend the day on the corner of 9th and 9th. Do some pilates, shopping, and lots of eating. The hardest part will be figuring out what shop to hit first. Millcreek is a diverse area with good places to eat, hikes, and a stellar community center.

KNOWLEDGE RESOLUTIONS:

I’m always trying to expand my vocabulary, so I won’t bore you guys with the same old words. I just downloaded "The Word of the Day" on my phone, and I can’t get enough. Everyday I learn a new word and make an effort to use that word in different sentences. It’s free, it’s fun, and it’s simple!

I can't get enough of the Leonardo Museum! With different exhibits, a coffee shop, gift shop, and interactive features, we could spend the whole day there. Whether you’re with your family, friends, a date, or by yourself you’ll be entertained the whole time! Fill that brain with knowledge, the Leonardo makes it fun. There are a ton of extra activities like summer camps, free events, after hour parties and more!

Who needs a Netflix subscription?

Happy 2017 everybody!
